Installing KeepNest
How do I install KeepNest?
When the Chrome Web Store listing is available, install KeepNest from the listing and pin the icon to your toolbar.
Which browser and version do I need?
KeepNest runs on Chrome and Chromium-based browsers. The exact minimum version will be listed on the store page before release.
Collecting pages
How do I save something from X?
Click the KeepNest icon, or use the save action on the post itself. The item is written to your library right away.
Can I save something by hand if filtering misses it?
Yes. Manual saves are unlimited on both plans and do not use your AI filter allowance.
Automatic filtering
How does automatic filtering decide what to keep?
It compares each new item against the topics you set up. Anything that does not clearly match goes to the review queue instead of your library.
What is the review queue?
A holding area for items KeepNest is not sure about. You can file them or dismiss them later, and nothing is lost.
Topics and processing tasks
What is a processing task?
It is the instruction KeepNest follows for one topic — for example, summarize the key points, or pull out prompts. Each topic can run a different one.
Can I write my own instruction?
Yes. Alongside the built-in tasks you can describe a custom task in your own words for any topic.
Images and context
Do you describe images in text?
No. KeepNest shows the original image next to the post text so the AI, and you, can read it in context. It does not add image-description text to your library.
Why keep the image at all?
A lot of posts only make sense with the picture. Keeping the image is what lets the summary stay accurate.
Local storage and backup
Where is my library stored?
In your browser's own storage for the extension. KeepNest does not keep a copy of your library on its servers.
What happens if I clear my browser data or remove the extension?
Your local library can be removed with it. Export a backup from the extension first if you want to keep it.
Obsidian sync
How does Obsidian sync work?
KeepNest writes your items into a folder you choose in your local vault, as Markdown, with the original links kept. Obsidian sync is manual on both plans.
Can I sync to something other than Obsidian?
Not today. Obsidian is the only sync target KeepNest supports.
Account, plans and leaving
Do I need an account?
Only inside the extension, and only to identify your account and plan. Google sign-in is used there — there is no sign-in on this website.
What is the difference between Free and Pro?
Free includes 3,000 AI filters and 20 full processing runs per month. Pro removes the monthly AI limits. Obsidian sync is manual on both plans.
How do I sign out or delete my account?
Both are done inside the extension, under Account & access. Deleting your account removes sign-in and sync settings; your local library and topics stay on your machine.
