What KeepNest does with your data
Plain description of what stays on your machine, what leaves it, and why.
In short
Your library is stored in your browser. Content is sent to KeepNest only when AI processing runs. Obsidian sync is optional and writes to a folder you choose. You can delete your account data from inside the extension.
1. What this policy covers
This policy applies to the KeepNest Chrome extension and this website. It describes the data involved when you collect pages, use AI filtering or processing, sign in, or sync to Obsidian.
2. Your local library
Pages you save, your topics, your processing settings and the images attached to items are stored in your browser's extension storage. KeepNest does not maintain a server-side copy of your library, and does not read your browsing history.
3. What AI processing sends
When AI filtering or organization runs, the post text, attached images and relevant topic instructions are sent to KeepNest's service for processing. Requests may be handled by Vercel AI Gateway or the DeepSeek API, including as a fallback. KeepNest does not save request content in its account database or files. These providers process requests under their own policies. Nothing is sent when AI features are off. See the provider policies: Vercel AI Gateway and DeepSeek.
4. Account details
Google sign-in is used inside the extension to identify your account and plan. We receive the basic profile identifiers needed for that, plus billing status for Pro. KeepNest does not request access to Gmail, Drive or contacts.
5. Obsidian sync
Obsidian is the only sync target KeepNest supports. Sync writes Markdown files into the vault folder you select on your own machine. You can pause or remove it at any time, and existing notes are never rewritten.
6. What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not use your saved content to train models. We do not show ads. We do not track pages you did not choose to save.
7. How long data is kept
Your library, categories, processing instructions and image references stay in your browser until you delete them or remove the extension. KeepNest does not keep a server-side library copy. Account profile and plan data are kept while your account is open and deleted from the active account store when you delete your account. Usage counters are deleted within 24 hours after the end of each UTC calendar month. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days, and expired session records are deleted within 24 hours. IP addresses used for short-term API rate limiting are held in server memory for no more than 60 seconds. KeepNest server security and error logs are kept for no longer than 30 days. KeepNest does not persist AI request content; third-party AI providers may apply their own retention policies.
8. Deleting your data
You can export a backup of your library, clear it, sign out, or delete your account from inside the extension under Account & access. Deleting your account removes sign-in and sync settings; your local library and topics remain on your machine until you remove them.
9. Children
KeepNest is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your machine, we will say so inside the extension before the change takes effect.
